Hey guys! It has been quite some time since my last post. I hope everyone is doing well during this trying period. For the 2020 Spring Semester, I will be updating this blog with weekly posts regarding Ewha Womans University and my life as an international student at Ewha. This week’s post will touch upon course registration and the process of applying for leave of absence (LOA) and return from absence at Ewha. I have previously written posts related to course registration and LOA so feel free to check them out. Let’s begin!

Hello! Here’s a new post about leave of absence and return from leave. There are old posts on my blog on this topic so feel free to check them under the tag “leave of absence”.

The OISA’s homepage provides details for applying for a leave of absence and you can refer to it here. Both application for a leave of absence and return from leave would be done on the Eureka portal. After you have submitted your application on Eureka, you must visit the OISA at ECC B329 to complete your application. This is extremely important as the office will inform the immigration office of your leave of absence. Once you are done with your application, you have to leave Korea within 15 days (a regulation of the Ministry of Justice).

Here’s the procedure for applying a LOA:

Eureka ➜ Request Leave of Absence ➜ Print out the Leave of Absence Form ➜ Confirmation by OISA (ECC B329) ➜ Confirm that your school registration status is “Leave of Absence” in Eureka ➜ Leave Korea within 15 days of reporting “Leave of Absence” (may differ by visa type).
